Removing wax from the warmer and cleaning it is something that’s easy to overlook and forget about, but it does need to be done from time to time.

In this blog post, I’ll show you how to clean your wax warmer.

Your wax warmer, like everything else, needs occasional cleaning. However, because your warmer is a delicate ornament, and frequently hot, it can be difficult to know how to clean it properly.

How to Clean Liquid Wax

The most common way requires good timing.

Wait until your warmer has cooled down but is still slightly warm, and the wax is no longer liquid. Be careful that the slightly melted wax doesn’t spill, if there’s a chance that it might, your warmer is still too hot.

Then remove the wax by wiping it with a paper towel or cotton ball.

Alternatively, you can place cotton balls into the liquid wax and let them soak up most of the wax before wiping the bottom of the reservoir.

How to Clean Hard Wax

Hard wax is very difficult to remove and I strongly recommend heating your warmer for a few minutes until the waxsoftens.

Once the wax is soft, it should be possible to remove most of it by wiping it away. Be very careful that your warmer is not too hot and that you do not to spill any while you’re cleaning.

Scrape away any remaining wax with a spoon or your finger. This might require some force; you may need to push down on the sides of the wax to loosen it.

Bewarned that trying to remove hardened wax may chip the ceramic bowl, so be careful.

How to Change wax melts with no mess?

Another option is to use a wax melt liner. A liner sits in between your wax melt and the surface of the warmer.

This way you can simply remove the old wax and replace it with new ones without having to worry about any mess left behind.

They are completely safe to use and cost-efficient.

How to Clean the Outside of Your Warmer

In order to clean the outside of your warmer, wipe it down with a damp cloth or paper towel.

Be careful not to damage any of the parts. Then take another cloth or paper towel, place it on top of the warming dish, and gently clean.

You can also use a little soap and water for more thorough cleaning- just make sure that you completely dry off any surface before using it again.

This is not recommended for electric warmers, only tea-light ones.

Repeat this process until all surface area has been wiped clean.

How Regularly Should You Clean Your Warmer?

I recommend cleaning your wax pot every time you change scents or after using it for an extended period of time.

Obviously, you want to get the most from your scents, so to ensure that you only experience the intended fragrance in its purest form, cleaning every time you change wax melts is recommended.

If the warmer is located in a high-traffic area, consider cleaning it more often to stay on top of any dust buildup.

Why it’s important to clean your wax warmer?

A dirty wax burner is less effective, and over time you’ll begin experiencing a “lighter” version of the scent.

This is because dirt and other particles will clog up your warmer’s heating surface or prevent it from working properly at all, not to mention how much harder they make it for your scents to have their intended smell.

By regularly cleaning your wax melt warmer, you can get the most out of your scents and have a longer lifespan.
